Academic History:
2001-2006:
Wilfrid Laurier University – Honours Bachelor of Arts in Geography with minors in philosophy and history. My special interest and academic strong point was centred on environmental impact assessment and environmental resource management.
2006-2008:
Masters of Environmental Science graduate, Wilfrid Laurier University in the Waterloo-Laurier Joint Program in Geography. My Research Focused on the application of environmental impact assessment (EIA) legislations to the 2010 Olympics.
2008-Into the future:
I am a PhD student in the Waterloo-Laurier Joint Program in Geography. My research will explore the application of environmental impact assessment with a decolonial perspective.
Past Research:
The research topic of my MES thesis focused on the application of environmental impact assessment legislation to the 2010 Olympic venue developments. My master’s thesis work involved a self-directed and self-organized, field-based interview process, an extensive literature review, and has led to many presentations, both academic and practical. During this time, I was also introduced to complex systems theory and have particular interest in ideas around panarchy and the catastrophe theory.
